It was silly of me to think it wouldn’t be difficult to choose the cutest kid out of a huge pile of contenders – because it really really was! And truthfully, every child was super cute, but because someone HAS to win the fabulous photo prizes I had to choose… and the grand prize winner is… ASHLEY!

I was immediately drawn to Ashley’s innocent inquisitiveness, chubby little cheeks and her mother’s heartfelt description of why Ashley should win. Congratulations to their entire family!

The 2nd place winner is a pair of brothers, Eli and Carter for their darling dimpled smiles, and the 3rd place winner is Aiyana for her adorable fashion sense!

There were a whopping number of undeniably cute kids among the entries, and I hate that I couldn’t pick everyone which is why they will all receive a $25 photo session credit. Thanks to everyone who participated and stay tuned for the winner’s portrait session photos coming later this summer!

iPad Wallpaper 2011 – Washington DC Nature Photographer

This year’s Spring iPad wallpaper installment is dedicated to Aaron from MACampus, who wrote a very kind blog post about the wallpaper I gave out last year. (He also loves his iPad as much as I do and shares it’s many uses with the world.) Thanks Aaron! I opted for a bit more color this year. The orange tulips look like they pale in comparison to the other flowers, but when their tangerine-y goodness is up close on the iPad they’re outstanding. That wallpaper is probably my favorite.

Kira’s first birthday portraits were a departure from my normal outdoor setting – we shot in the studio for a cake smash!

Before we got started with the birthday cake fun we let her test out her modeling skills in front of a simple white background. Um, have you ever seen a one year old so utterly at ease in front of a camera? She puts seasoned actresses to shame (and makes your heart melt at the same time)! More shots from her cake smash soon!

My Instagram Life – Washington DC Photographer

I love my large workhorse Canon 5D Mark II, I really do, but if it wasn’t for Instagram, my personal photo collection would be pitiful.

So I rely on my trusty iPhone and a fun little app that helps me document everyday life. Instagram isn’t a camera – my phone already has that – but it has all the tools to give the photos a funky edge and share them with the world if you please.
